FAQ
Who runs the park?
The park is run by Rottneros Park Trädgård AB, which is owned by the local county council.
Who created the park and why?
Rottneros Park was laid out by Svante Påhlson between 1932 and 1959. He ran the park and lived in the mansion in the park grounds.
Svante Påhlson explains why the park was created:
“The park and the sculptures, along with the architecture, were designed to reinforce the romantic glow that shines over Ekeby, as the park known as in Selma Lagerlöf’s book “ The Saga of Gösta Berling”, and allow them to melt into the surrounding countryside…..”
Is the mansion open to the public?
No, it’s not. The mansion is privately owned and is the home of Toste Påhlson Möller, who is a grandchild of Svante Påhlson, who created the park.
